This artwork reminds me of the first time I took a science class. It was confusing but extremely interesting. I wanted to look at the whole picture at the same time; however, when I did this, I couldn’t understand it. Instead of this approach, I looked at it from different perspectives. First, I looked at the name of the artwork, “Space Neuron” and I focused on the “Space” aspect. Space can either be all the white areas or the areas covered in black. However, it can also signify that perhaps this is the sun in space but in black and white. After thinking about that, I focused on the word “Neuron”. This word was a bit more easy to relate to being that this piece looks science-related—kind of like an atom or what a neuron would look like if it was seen up close. The choice of keeping this piece black and white, opposed to color, gives it more depth; hence, there is more to think about and multiple things to relate it to.
